With the 3 Series Convertible's fully automatic hardtop, the 300 horsepower twin-turbo engine is exhilarating in any season. And when the top retracts in a mere 22 seconds, you won't have to wait to enjoy it.

Our new, inline six-cylinder engine features a number of pioneering technologies, including Valvetronic and an electronically controlled water pump. The water pump uses less power than conventional pumps, contributing to the engine’s increased power output. And to save weight, we used an engine block that’s particularly inventive – it’s made of an innovative lightweight composite magnesium/aluminum and we were the first to use it in a production car.

Active Cruise Control is an advanced version of conventional cruise control systems. After setting the chosen speed and pre-set distance, radar measurements allow you to maintain a pre-set distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead in highway driving. As soon as sensors determine you are closing in on a vehicle ahead, the system automatically slows down to retain your pre-set distance. Once the distance has increased back to the chosen limit the system automatically accelerates to return your vehicle to its pre-set speed.

Bluetooth wireless technology connects mobile phones enabled with Bluetooth to a vehicle for hands-free calling. With the use of a compatible Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, a driver can place and answer calls, and browse and select phonebook contacts from their phone, simply by using the multifunction steering wheel controls and radio keys.

Vehicles equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology are shipped fully activated, and only require the new owner to complete a simple one-time pairing procedure with a compatible Bluetooth phone. Up to four paired phones can be stored in the car’s memory system

Xenon Adaptive Headlights provide brilliant clarity of the road ahead and to the side at night and in conditions with poor visibility. The dynamic auto-leveling feature adjusts for varying passenger and cargo loads, helping to keep headlight glare out of the eyes of oncoming drivers. BMW Adaptive Headlights provide optimum road illumination around corners, thanks to an electromechanical control system that directs the headlights into and around the bend as soon as the vehicle begins cornering.
